Knowledge Portals

Chroma Film specialises in building film-based knowledge portals for the handiwork trades, showing how traditional handiwork was, and is, carried out through a focus on craftsmanship.

Byggefilm.dk

Byggefilm.dk contains nearly 90 films in which we demonstrate classic craft techniques and tell the story of how traditional building materials work and where they come from, as well as how tools are correctly used in practice. The films focus on restoration and the preservation of the older building stock in multi-storey residential buildings.

The films are process-oriented and also function as on-the-job training for craftspeople tasked with safeguarding the building heritage. While traditional building trades are still supported by formal vocational education, the classical crafts have only a few remaining practitioners and, in educational terms, can today be passed on solely through apprenticeship-style peer learning
