PH was a trained architect. He designed many houses, but only one apartment building — the cooperative housing association Sankt Kjeldsgade, known as ASK. PH designed ASK in 1923, and the building was completed in 1925. Over time, the roof and courtyard façade deteriorated, and in 2018 a major renovation project was initiated with respect for the original architecture.
In this film, we follow the renovation process from start to finish between 2018 and 2020. The film is structured in chapters, each beginning and ending with a sequence from the project, such as the replacement of joints or windows. The story of ASK highlights PH’s many and varied skills, but also his importance within Danish architecture and design. His work has thus become part of our shared cultural heritage.
