This film shows the Danish sailor and skipper Mark Flindt, who is up against the winner Harry Melges and their crews during a five-day battle for the gold medal in the Melges 24 boat class at the 2002 World Championships. There are 74 boats competing in the race in Travemünde, Germany. The film is an action-packed documentary that brings the intense atmosphere and salt water off the screen.
There are cameras on board the referee ship, in dinghies, in a helicopter and wireless microphones on the skippers while they race, so you experience the tough internal battles on the water together with the crew on board. You can experience starting procedures, mark rounds and booms up close and hear intense commands on board, something never seen/heard before in the class
